Mold spores are a
naturally occurring fungus
which float through the air
looking for a place to land. When they find a damp spot, they grow by
digesting available surface material which can include wood, paper, carpet,
and foods.
Excessive moisture or
water accumulation is a breeding ground for mold,
particularly if the moisture problem remains undiscovered or un-addressed.
Molds can be found almost anywhere and can grow on virtually any substance,
providing moisture is present. |

Mold is not always visible!
Spores can hide behind walls on
the studs or underneath floors. Surface cleaning may not always be effective
in eliminating mold...you have to find where the live and treat the
underlying problem to effectively stop mold growth.
Potential health effects
and symptoms associated with mold
exposures include allergic reactions, asthma, and other respiratory
complaints. Because mold can present a potential health risk, caution must
be exercised when cleaning up visible sources, or whenever conditions exist
that may promote growth. Areas affected should be isolated to prevent the
spread of spores during clean-up, as they typically become airborne quite
easily.
